Four Seasons Hotel Milano

Our 4 seasons´ experience at the Four Seasons Hotel Milano

A HEAVENLY BREAK AND EARTHLY ENJOYMENT ARE GUARANTEED AT ANY TIME OF THE YEAR AT THE FOUR SEASONS HOTEL IN MILAN!

Embedded by almost 600 years of history, the former monastic community is the magical trend spot for the international public. Frescoes, vaulted ceilings combined with contemporary chic and spirit – these are the surroundings of today’s iconic hotel in the fashion capital. The Four Seasons in Milan uniquely combines stylish luxury with a heavenly feeling. A true sanctuary of design and comfort. The esprit and lifestyle always fascinate me anew.

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL MILANO – PRIVILEGED LOCATION AND PRIVATE GARDENS

Four Seasons has been redefining the concept of luxury travel since 1961. So, it comes as no surprise that the Four Seasons was the first 5-star hotel in Milan. In 1993, the luxurious hotel opened in the heart of Milan’s fashion district in a renovated and restored 15th century monastery surrounded by a magnificent garden. Known as “Santa Maria del Gesù”, the convent opened its doors in 1559. While in the past, only nuns strolled through the breathtaking convent garden, today the ladies of high society as well as business travelers, tourists, models, artists and fashion designers stroll through the fragrant garden.

This former monastery garden, designed by Flavio Pollano, is a true oasis of peace and invites you to take a fragrant walk at any time of the day or year. Finding inspiration and relaxation in the open air on comfortable wooden benches or in chilled-out urban cabanas in the middle of a city of millions is a peaceful pleasure. As a long-time hotel guest, I love lingering and meditating there at any time of the year. Take a look at the photos in the slideshow and accompany me through this spiritual atmosphere.

The hotel not only impresses with its unique garden, but also with excellent location. The privileged location in the middle of the shopping paradise, in the so-called Quadrilatero della Moda, is the ideal starting point for shopping and sightseeing. The chic and luxurious boutiques, the renowned designer stores, the breathtaking antique stores and art galleries, the traditional and delicious confectioneries are spread around the hotel. Only a few steps away is the oldest covered shopping arcade in the world, the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and the city’s landmark: Milan Cathedral. The luxury hotel is also just a few steps away from the famous opera house (Teatro alla Scala).

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL MILANO – PROFESSIONAL CHECK-IN

With a professional smile on his face and a warm welcome, the car attendant opens the door of the limousine, calls the bellboy to take the luggage straight to our suite or room, and the front desk manager is already waiting at reception for a quick check-in. The beautiful, always fresh floral decorations in the cosmopolitan lobby are worth looking at – all year round, but especially at Christmas time. As the festive decorations extend far beyond the stylish hotel lobby, I am dedicating a special chapter in this portrait to the “Christmas wonderland” in Milan’s Four Seasons and look forward to the unique Christmas vibe every year.

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL MILANO – LUXURIOUS ROOMS / SUITES

The former nuns’ cells have been transformed into 67 luxurious rooms and 51 exclusively designed suites, which are spread across three interconnected historic buildings surrounding a unique garden and inner courtyard. All rooms (from the superior rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors to the deluxe and premium rooms) and suites have spacious marble bathrooms and impress with their classic elegance and modern elements of pure luxury.

Some rooms and suites are decorated with frescoes or vaulted ceilings, seamlessly blending historical details with timeless Italian design.

We always particularly like the elegant executive suites with their high ornately painted ceilings. The following pictures (more in the slideshow) show the executive Suite (061) on the ground floor with a connecting door to a Junior Suite. Here we can always expect an absolutely contemplative atmosphere at Christmas – thanks to the fragrant, modern Christmas tree in the living/dining room – as well as a view of the smaller, pretty courtyards. While I feel like I’m in a wellness oasis in the spacious bathroom, decorated with marble from floor to ceiling, the large dressing room reveals to me that I still have a lot of shopping to do.

I would also like to mention the executive suite (552) with a connecting door to a spacious premium room (551). Both are located on the top floor of a building with an impressive glass roof and are characterized by timeless elegance. The view over the roofs of Milan into via Gesù fascinates me at any time of day and year.

In addition to the beautiful executive suites, the luxury hotel offers other multifaceted suites:

  • The stylish Fashion Suite scores with a terrace and an interesting combination of colors and furniture.
  • The Fresco Suite impresses with its breathtaking ceiling fresco painted by Giocondo Albertolli. A real treat for the eyes and balm for the soul.
  • The Renaissance Suite on the 1st floor surprises with original stucco.
  • The three-storey Monastery Suite with its vaulted ceilings is another oasis of well-being.
  • The oval windows in the modern Italian Designer Suite are a special eye-catcher.
  • The absolutely unique terrace in the Penthouse Suite delights guests in both summer and winter.
  • At 177 square meters, the Presidential Suite is the largest suite with its own fireplace and reflects the feel-good character in a very special way.

The Four Seasons preserves the historical heritage in all its accommodations, but has skillfully modernized the antique character!

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL MILANO – CULINARY DELIGHTS

The newly designed Zelo restaurant is located in a large conservatory with a view of the light-flooded terrace and garden. Breakfast (à la carte), lunch and dinner are served there. During the day, the restaurant offers light, Mediterranean delights. In the evening, the professional kitchen team pampers the world-traveled palate with innovative dishes.

Unfortunately, the highlight of the legendary Sunday brunch has been missing for years. The famous chocolate room used to sweeten my palate and my eyes. Now for Christmas there is the traditional handmade Panettone – packed in a stylish vintage look in a hat box, signed by the Pastry Chef. A pure pleasure for me! You too, dear readers, should to discover “the flavors of tradition”. Every year, the Pastry Chef Daniele Bonzi carefully selects the raw materials (including Gran Cru vanilla from Tahiti, acacia honey, smal seedless raisin and Italian candied fruits) and processes the dough over 36 hours. The Panettone still makes my taste buds dance at home, because I bring several Panettoni every year with me.

The Stilla bar, accompanied on some evenings by modern DJ sounds, serves top-class cocktails and small delicacies.

The Camino Lounge with fireplace is situated in a dignified and quiet location in the former monastery. It features art sketches by the famous stage designer Filippo Peroni.

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL MILANO – PURE DECELERATION

The spa, redesigned in 2014 with fine woods, natural stone and tiles in shades of cream, gold and reddish brown, was designed by Spanish architect Patricia Urquiola. The historic wine cellar and adjoining rooms have been transformed into a first-class wellness oasis with historic vaulted brick ceilings. On 800 square meters, wellness lovers can enjoy a 32 degree heated pool (14×3.50 m) with gold-colored banisters, very comfortable loungers, a sauna, a steam bath, changing areas with marble washstands, multifunctional showers decorated with elements by French designer Philipp Starck, treatment and massage rooms and a fitness area that can be used around the clock. Furthermore, a private spa suite with its own steam bath, multifunctional shower, jacuzzi, changing room and fireplace completes the offer. Finally, a hairdresser is available to guests.

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL MILANO – CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND

As I mentioned at the beginning of this portrait, I would like to dedicate a special section to the annual Christmas decorations at the Four Seasons Hotel Milano. For years, it has been andremains the most festively decorated hotel in Milan and one of the most festive inthe world. In keeping with a long-standing tradition, the five-star hotel puts guests in the Christmas spirit. It spares neither expense nor effort, because it is prepared to invest in the most wonderful festive season. If you can’t afford or don’t want to stay here, you should still pay the hotel a visit and soak up the unique atmosphere in the bar or restaurant to get in the mood for the festive season. It is “The Place to Be or to Stay” in Milan. It is definitely a destination for the stylish world traveler.

You, dear readers, can also take selfies of the perfect X-Mas ambience between a Ferrari, Lamborghini or Mercedes-Maybach. The renowned hotel welcomes its guests right outside the door with a festively decorated Christmas world.

While the hotel surprised guests outside with a “replica” of the world-famous Courmayeur ski resort at the foot of Mont Blanc in 2022, a winter wonderland made hearts beat faster inside. There were gondolas, skis, fir trees and an après-ski feeling in the midst of “snow-covered” fir trees. Another decoration highlight were the penguins floating on strings at lofty heights, as well as the emperor penguins sitting proudly in a golden frame.

Take a look at the following pictures. They truly speak for a winter wonderland.

There was also pure romance in 2023, where the colors green and red dominated throughout the hotel. There was not only flickering candlelight, opulent garlands and majestic bows, but also matching festive wallpaper, cushions and carpets. All of this exuded a special magic that no one should miss.

In the inner garden, a designer fir tree from Acqua di Parma greeted the guests and fairy lights were scattered throughout the hotel grounds.

While the Acqua di Parma Christmas tree put me in a stylish mood in 2023, this year – 2024 – the shimmering golden forest and the magical angel wings managed to put me in a uniquely festive mood. I can’t wait to see which couture festive dress the Four Seasons Hotel Milano will delight all its loyal guests with in 2025. The festive magic at Four Seasons starts every year in Milan at the end of November.

But now, dear readers, step into the shimmering golden forest with the following pictures. Let the magical wings inspire you, dear readers, just as much as they inspire me.

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL MILANO – TOP MANAGEMENT

Since 2019 the dedicated and passionate General Manager Andrea Obertello leads the sophisticated Four Seasons Hotel Milano paired with a family atmosphere and a stylish spirit. Thanks to this personal, discreet, attentive management style, which is lived by the staff. Thanks to the Executive Assistant to General Manager Cristina Scarnato, the Front Desk Manager Adriana Druta, the Pastry Chef Daniele Bonzi, too. I am already looking forward to my next stay.
