Park Hotel Vitznau

The luxury jewel on Lake Lucerne

Tradition, nostalgia and style paired with a modern look, discreet luxury and high-tech in the upscale hotel industry are no longer opposites these days. On the contrary; on Lake Lucerne, the Park Hotel Vitznau sets an example. After more than three years of renovation and refurbishment, the fairy-tale castle awoke from its deep sleep at the end of March 2013. Today’s hotel structure corresponds to the original architecture from 1903.

Every time I enter the Park Hotel Vitznau and its 118-year-old walls, I feel living history of this traditional hotel. The imposing building with turret was renovated, while preserving its historically proven elements. Thus, the Belle Epoque hotel keeps its finger on the pulse of time and presents a successful balance between tradition and innovation. It deserves my respect as well as esteem for its lived motto: “Preserving the past and creating the future”.

Take your time and take a leisurely stroll along the hotel corridors, which are divided into the themed worlds of Wine & Dine, Art & Culture, and Health & Wealth. Thanks to the exhibited pictures, graphics and texts, the respective corridors offer you interesting insights into the history and basics of wine culture, theater or finance, for example. In addition, in the elevator you’ll have to pay attention to the works of art that you can see from the elevator on each floor. An unforgettable adventure! A great experience for young and old!

As for the suites and residences, each offers not only every conceivable technical refinement, but each suite/residence has an interior individually designed according to six theme worlds. Situated in the Theater or Verlinde Gallery, the Junior Suites with lake or mountain views appeal to the artist and to the people interested in art and culture. Thus, Claude Verlinde’s surrealist paintings show the blending of fiction and reality in the junior suite, which bears the imaginative name “Les Fables.” Sadly, the French painter and graphic artist passed away on September 18th, 2020. More artwork can be admired in the Verlinde Bar. Other suites and deluxe junior suites with lake or mountain views are home to the Finance, Dine, Endowment as well as Theater galleries.

While the deluxe residences, also spread over several galleries, have lake views – in the Wine Gallery one of them bears the characteristic name “Bordeaux” – the Residence “Alte Welt” looks out over the Rigi.

Our Rigi Suite, with a view of the 1,797-meter-high “Queen of the Mountains,” scores not only with a high-tech shower, a cozy winter garden, but also with a grandiose terrace. Since pictures say more than 1000 words, take a look at the photos of the separate stylish living room and bedroom.

The Park Hotel Vitznau in an absolutely privileged location on sunny Lake Lucerne possesses uniqueness, exclusivity and excellence in every sense. Nestled in the picturesque beauty of Lake Lucerne, the Park Hotel Vitznau offers true freedom and pure joie de vivre. From the sunbathing lawn directly on the lake, you can look out for the cruise ships Europa, Weggis, Schiller and Uri, as well as the paddle steamers Gallia and Schwyz.

The unique heated infinity outdoor pool is just the start. The almost 1,500-square-meter stylish spa with floor-to-ceiling impressive aquarium extends over three levels. Indoor whirlpool, plunge pool, sauna, steam bath, ice grotto, relaxation rooms, beverage counter with small snacks make the heart of every wellness lover beat faster.

I was particularly impressed by the tepidarium with its unique light, music and reclining concept. You can see the light spectacle on the pictures, you can guess the loungers, but you have to let the music work on your soul and spirit on site. I promise you a deep relaxation of the extra class!

The restaurant scene with seasonal products in the Park Hotel Vitznau is also impressive. The two Michelin stars as well as the 18 points in the Gault Millau Guide delight the palate of every gourmet guest in the fine dining restaurant focus ATELIER. The Casual Fine Dining concept distinguished with a Michelin star and 16 points in the Gault Millau Guide convinces each Gourmet in the glass pavilion of the PRISMA FOCUS with 180 degrees panorama view and a focus on a Euro-Asian kitchen. Furthermore, I recommend a lunch, a Sunday brunch or a dinner on the breathtaking lakeside terrace in front of the backdrop of renowned Swiss mountains, such as the 1,879-meter-high Stanserhorn, the world-famous Bürgenstock or the imposing Pilatus. The exceptional, tasty grill cuisine offered there will also captivate you. The inviting view of the Brüggli mountain salmon trout, which comes from ponds fed by fresh mountain spring water, as well as the Patagonian wild-caught shrimp will delight your eyes and palate. You must also try the multifaceted organic meats, including the absolutely fantastic carpaccio. Finally, the magical sunset – around 9.00pm at the beginning of June – will also enchant you!

Not to be forgotten at this point is the Armagnac & Cognac Bar Verlinde – with nine original works of art by the late artist Claude Verlinde – where, among other things, exquisite delicacies and exquisite cocktails will delight the guest.

Since it is well known that an excellent meal also requires a good drop of wine, I refer to the 32,000 bottles of wine or the 4,000 types of wine in the exclusive wine cellar.

The Park Hotel Vitznau – a mountain-lake dream – is truly a shining light in the sky of the luxury hotel industry: an oasis of tranquility for wellness lovers, a jewel for gourmets and wine connoisseurs, a secret treasure for guests who are looking for that certain something. It is “The Place to be” on Lake Lucerne during the week and at weekends the hottest meeting place for locals as well as foreigners who embody a sophisticated lifestyle – definitely a destination for the stylish world traveler.

Finally, I would like to give you an insider tip: sit near the hotel’s own rotating fountain “Bulle & Bär”, listen to the splashing of the bronze fountain and enjoy the unique view over the picturesque lake.

The region around Lake Lucerne offers a diverse range of walks, idyllic boat trips, day trips to Lucerne and the surrounding area, varied sports activities as well as cultural events.
