Villa des Dames

Historical manor house in the charming Mullerthal region

If you are looking for an exceptional accommodation in Luxembourg, then you should not miss this true insider tip. I discovered for you the absolutely unique Villa des Dames in Larochette.

The following portrait should captivate you as much as the Villa des Dames enchanted me. This picturesque villa, which is equipped with an incredible attention to detail, truly sets new standards in the hotel-garni industry in Luxembourg. www.villadesdames.com

This charming and lovingly restored Art Deco-style B & B is my personal hideaway in Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland: www.littleswitzerland.org

You too, can experience unforgettable days in the stylishly renovated and restored home of a former factory owner’s family in a privileged location – in the center of town with a historic marketplace.

Every time I enter the Villa des Dames with its authentic wooden floors and look at the neo-Baroque partially exposed frescoes, the high stucco ceilings and the original doors, I feel the living history of this historic residence, classified National Architectural Heritage.

As for the four differently decorated rooms / suites in retro-chic, it is very difficult to tell you my favorite, because I love all the four rooms / suites. Suite 1 with 36 square meters and free-standing retro bathtub as well as shower took my heart by storm.

In Suite 2 with 30 square meters, an inviting shower scores with a large balcony and an incredible panoramic view of the ruins of the majestic Larochette Castle illuminated every evening. From this suite, you truly have a panoramic view during the day and a dramatic view in the evening; the castle seems close enough to touch. The spacious second-floor rooms (25-30 square meters) also have a private bathroom with shower and exude their own unique charm.

The stylish breakfast room and the cozy lounge on the ground floor invite you to linger. In the morning, indulge in a rich, lovingly prepared breakfast with carefully selected regional and seasonal products, some of which are organically grown. In the afternoon or evening, enjoy the dignified atmosphere in the lounge. In spring as well as in summer, the private garden with terrace and view of the adjacent forest invites you to relax.

Another highlight is the vaulted cellar, which can be booked for private events as well as for a romantic candlelit dinner. The stunning wine cellar must be on your bucket list.

As for leisure activities, the two professional and loving hosts will be happy to advise you. Hospitality is much more than just a word at Villa des Dames. It is a lived and personal cordiality, which the two owners radiate. Furthermore, you can inform yourself in advance about the various tourist offers on the given homepages. I will just mention: romantic walks in the woods; varied hikes through the Mullerthal Region, Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland (my personal tip: hiking on the certified Mullerthal Trail past sandstone cliffs and deep gorges); fascinating balloon flights; exciting castle tours (Larochette Castle 100 meters away, Beaufort Castle 15 minutes by car); thrilling bicycle tours.
