Peninsula Hong Kong

The “grande dame” of the luxury hotel industry

The magnificent 5-star Peninsula Hong Kong is one of the best and finest hotels in the world and FOR ME THE ONE AND ONLY IN HONG KONG. It offers more than a very high level of luxury and it is worth a thousand stars! I can´t resist this fascinating, captivating, and enchanting “grand old lady of the Far East”. Since opening in 1928, it has been one of the most famous hotel´s around the globe. Since its renovation a few years ago, the flagship of the Peninsula Group has known how to combine timeless tradition with modern high-tech. Giving a heritage hotel a new lease of life is all about details, the distinct story that each location tells and the latest available technology.

“The Pen” is famous throughout China and further afield for its unobtrusive service, discreet staff, exquisite cuisine, stylish glamour. It is an oasis of calm in the midst of the hustle and bustle in the “City of Life”! It is a heavenly retreat from the world! Also, it is ideally located, enabling guests to explore the district of Kowloon on foot! Nathan Road and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre are only a two-minute walk away, The Hong Kong Museum of Art is only a four-minute walk away. On the opposite side of the street, you can walk along the Victoria Harbour promenade. This world-famous Avenue of the Stars, a tribute to the stars and starlets of the Cantonese film industry, is really worth a walk.

Despite the highly modern, clean and elegant design, “The Pen” exudes a heart-felt welcome and the famous Peninsula hospitality creates a warm luxury environment for guests, ensuring that my husband and I felt at home from the very outset. You too must pay a visit to the legendary “Grande Dame of the Far East” once in your lifetime. She won´t disappoint you!

As for the rooms and suites, I recommend residing in the Tower, which opened in 1994. This modern building complements the neoclassical main building in an impressive way. Book a Grand Deluxe Harbour View Room on the upper floors (like 1909 / 2209), a Superior Suite or a Deluxe Suite with stunning unobstructed views of the glittering Victoria Harbour and the city skyline of Hong Kong Island.

Enjoy the one-million-dollar view of the Symphony of light show from one of these rooms or suites with a glass of Peninsula Champagne in your hand. This superlative show takes place every evening in front of your large windows from 8:00 pm to 8:14 pm. Your really have a box seat on this multimedia show. More than 30 buildings are illuminated in a synchronized dance of colored lights and laser beams. Pay special attention to the Bank of China Tower, an architectural landmark in the Central District. If this unique light show is not enough for you, you have to leave your room or suite to also experience the sound show from across the road. The rooms and suites offer everything the heart of a stylish luxury traveler desires: classic elegance paired with modern, reduced chic and contemporary furnishings. The ladies will certainly be happy about a nail dryer with LED. The gentlemen enjoy the LED touch screens on the room walls. The high-tech lover will be delighted by the latest audio-visual technology: the in-room Internet protocol television with the support of wireless streaming and projecting function of the Chromecast. Ultimately, the VOIP-technology (free long-distance calls to home) inspires every guest!

Although you have now seen several photos in advance, nothing can prepare you for the sight that will met your eyes from the windows of the limousine (possibly one of the hotel´s 13 Rolls Royce with the license plate MP 3477 or MP 3346 or MP 3991 or MP3951) or of the helicopter as you approach the Peninsula Hong Kong. Those wishing to experience an arrival or a departure that is a bit different, must book a helicopter flight on arrival or on departure. I recommend an arrival by helicopter from the International Airport and a departure with one of the hotel´s private Rolls Royce fleet.

Of course, you can also take a round trip in the helicopter – like Lady Di. She was a regular guest and always traveled from the airport by helicopter. The hotel provides 2 helipads on its rooftop. Don´t miss this experience! Don´t miss the hotel´s helicopter service and the China Clipper Lounge

From the air, the layout of Hong Kong can be seen to full benefit, revealing futuristic skyscrapers and the green side of the megacity with lush forests and great beaches.

For relaxation, I recommend a swim in the indoor pool located on the 7th floor or a treatment in the Spa. The fabulous Roman pool offers breathtaking views of Hong Kong´s iconic city skyline from the ceiling windows or in summer from the grandiose sun terrace. The legendary and magic hands of the therapists in the stylish, luxury Spa with Eastern influenced design provides one of the world´s best massages: the signature massages relax the body´s every fiber! Also, the Ayurveda treatments are a dream and very popular among the international guests. Of course, you will also find a well-equipped fitness center. And ultimately live to see the truly relaxing shopping experience in the Peninsula Arcade, where the best luxury brands converge under one roof, including haute couture shops, jewelry stores and bespoke tailoring.

But contrary to all claims, a tailor-made piece of clothing is never and will never be a bargain! However, the bespoke tailors in the Peninsula Arcade are familiar with overseas customers and do an excellent job (at least 2 fittings are required on site).

The Peninsula´s eclectic mix of restaurants offers guests sophisticated cuisine, ranging from French haute cuisine at Gaddi´s in a truly elegant décor, through authentic Cantonese gastronomy in a serene Art Deco setting at Spring Moon or Japanese Cuisine in a minimalist design at Imasa or Swiss specialties at Chesa, in the style of a quaint Swiss restaurant to high-end contemporary dining at Felix in a spectacular interior designed by Philippe Starck with breathtaking views of Hong Kong´s skyline from the 28th floor. The Verandah on the first floor in a colonial style offers a great buffet for lunch and dinner. You can also enjoy a light meal or the traditional Peninsula Afternoon Tea in the legendary Lobby with live music.

Ultimately, you must book one of the personaliezd tours organized by the Peninsula Academy.
